In the harbor of Athens, lies one of Greece's larger refugee camps called, Skaramagas. When we first visited this camp in 2016, we were surprised at the lack of children’s activities. This is when we gathered a group of very dedicated volunteers and brought our ex-circus tent to this camp to set up a play area for the children.
Within no time, we had English lessons and a basic playground set up to entertain the 1,200 children in the camp. Then, our friends from Favela Paint came to help us give some color to the play area. After a few months volunteering in Skaramagas, we noticed that our team was too small to cover two camps, and therefore we decided to focus on one camp, fully.
