Fundraiser GR

Movement On The Ground is looking for an experienced Fundraiser to join our team in Athens. If you have the skills and experience to support our dynamic Greek projects aimed at dignifying refugee reception in Athens and the North Aegean Islands, we welcome you to become a part of our team.

Movement On The Ground

We are a non-profit organization established in 2015, and in the center of all our missions stands the Camp to CampUs philosophy. This model harnesses the skills, experience, talents and ideas of residents to transform refugee settings into safe, healing, and sustainable environments. By providing the right tools and resources, we empower people to take control over and improve their living conditions, whether in camps, shelters or areas affected by natural disasters.

At MOTG, Camp to CampUs is a way of life, a working method, and a philosophy that has proven to be globally applicable to contribute to the dignified reception of refugees.

The Role

Based in Greece (ideally Athens or Lesvos, with the possibility of working remotely), you will support the MOTG Fundraising Team to raise money for projects supporting refugees in Greece. You will conduct research into grant opportunities, develop strategic relationships with individuals in Government and private foundations, draft and submit grant proposals, and coordinate fundraising campaigns. You will work closely with both Head Office and Field Operations staff to develop project financial plans and corresponding fundraising strategies.

In this role, you will support projects:

  • In Athens: aimed at supporting young refugees to overcome challenges, gain their independence and integrate into society
  • In the Greek Islands: aimed at dignifying reception centres through activating both refugee and local communities
  • In the MENA region (Middle East and North Africa), more specifically in Lebanon and Egypt: aimed at supporting the hosting community and people on the move by enhancing their employability prospects.

Your work environment will be fast-paced, demanding, and filled with challenges. To succeed, you will need to be both analytical - able to research grant opportunities and draft written proposals - and charismatic - able to develop strategic relationships with key individuals in grant-making organisations. You will be creative, proactive, focused and determined in pursuit of funding opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (in any subject, but preferably Humanitarian-related studies)
  • Native Greek speaker, also with excellent spoken and written English
  • At least 3 years experience in fundraising positions in an NGO or similar organisation
